WHY CHOOSE CSUF Theatre
In the classroom, faculty experts teach students about the history and theory behind theatre arts, but the heart of the theatre program is our performances. From student-directed plays to Broadway musicals, our students gain hands-on experience on stage and behind the scenes.
Designing sets, directing productions, planning costumes and performing with the cast, our theatre students develop knowledge and improve their skill sets while crafting impressive resumes that will launch their careers in the performing arts industry.
- Students learn, rehearse and perform in award-winning spaces, including the Clayes Performing Arts Center.
- Theatre faculty have performed on Broadway and acted in such television series as “New Girl,” “For All Mankind” and “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.”
- Every year, fourth-year musical theatre students travel to New York City to perform for an audience of talent agents, managers, casting directors and producers. In 2023, all 14 graduating seniors received a call from a talent agent, manager or casting director after the showcase.
